The Beauty of Ritual: A Skincare and Wellness Journey

Mornings for me begin with a quiet, grounding ritual. I reach for Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Enzyme Cleanser, a product that’s as gentle as it is effective, leaving my skin refreshed but never stripped. From there, I apply a ZnO+ eye serum with SPF 50, followed by moisturizer and whichever SunsolveMD formula best suits my skin that day.

Growing up in Sweden, I learned early how complicated sun care can be—especially with skin that is fair, sensitive, and prone to breakouts. For years, sunscreen felt like an enemy, often leading to irritation or acne. Discovering Sunsolve changed that. Now, I rotate between their targeted blends: Firm + Replenish for fine lines, Correct + Fade to even tone and soften pigmentation, and Balance + Clear to keep oil and blemishes in check. It’s liberating to have protection that doesn’t come with compromise.

Evenings follow their own comforting rhythm. I remove every trace of makeup, cleanse, apply serum, and finish with a rich moisturizer to lock everything in. Augustinus Bader’s Rich Cream has become a staple—it’s dense and luxurious, and a little is more than enough. Once a week, I also schedule time for a lymphatic drainage massage. It’s a small practice that makes an enormous difference, especially when I’m traveling or feeling run-down. Working with Makenna Bernardino, who has the gentlest hands, I leave each session feeling lighter, more energized, and rebalanced. For me, wellness isn’t about chasing endless treatments—it’s about finding what truly works and committing to it consistently.

Makeup, too, is less about transformation and more about collaboration and trust. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible artists who bring not only skill but also warmth and energy to every set. Harold James, whose work I admired long before we collaborated, has an artistry that elevates everything while keeping the experience grounded and joyful. Leah Darcy, whom I first connected with after moving to Los Angeles, has become both a creative partner and a friend. The beauty of working with the same people over time is the natural rhythm that develops—the trust, the ease, the sense of shared vision.

My everyday makeup bag is simple but curated. Make Up For Ever’s Artist pencil in Anywhere Caffeine or Wherever Walnut paired with a Rhode lip tint is my effortless lip duo. Saie’s Slip Tint concealer has become my favorite for its lightweight, serum-like texture that blends seamlessly. Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate blush, especially in the bright red duo, adds the perfect flush—I always tap a little onto the bridge of my nose for a sun-kissed effect. To finish, Chanel’s Les Beiges bronzing cream gives just the right amount of glow, a believable warmth that mimics a day in the sun. Since I’m vigilant about SPF and avoid real tanning, these products help me achieve that healthy radiance without the risk.

When it comes to hair, I keep things equally natural. In Los Angeles, I trust colorist Tauni Dawson, who has an uncanny ability to create tones that feel like they’ve been lit by the sun itself—soft, subtle, and timeless. Haircuts tend to be more spontaneous; I’ll often sneak in a trim on set when time allows. At home, I wash my hair about three times a week, alternating between different shampoos and conditioners. Maria Nila’s Heal range is a regular in my rotation, and once a month, I use the Pearl Silver Colour Refresh to maintain softness and tone. For repair, nothing revives my strands quite like the K18 hair mask.

Fragrance isn’t something I overthink. More often than not, I borrow whatever my partner Tom is wearing—lately, Terre d’Hermès. It’s a habit that feels unintentional but intimate, like carrying a piece of him with me. My approach to wellness follows the same intuitive path: less structure, more listening. Lately, I’ve been starting mornings with bone broth—simple, nourishing, grounding. I like to take my supplements in liquid form, whether it’s a green juice, smoothie, or whatever my body happens to crave that day.

Movement is another cornerstone of my well-being. Pilates is a favorite—intense, precise, deeply strengthening. In New York, SLT classes push me in the best way, while in Los Angeles, I gravitate toward personal training at the Alo Gym. And as much as I love structured workouts, nothing clears my mind quite like being outside. Running or walking in nature is a reset button—a reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with myself.

Through it all, I’ve come to believe that beauty and wellness aren’t about constant reinvention. They’re about cultivating steady, thoughtful practices—those small, intentional rituals that ground us in the midst of busy lives. Whether it’s a trusted cleanser, a weekly massage, or a quiet run in nature, these habits build a rhythm of care that sustains me far beyond the surface.
