Silence is not something Into The Gloss was built on. From the beginning, this space has thrived on conversation, connection, and beauty chatter that feels like it’s happening across a bathroom counter. So when things went quiet here, the absence felt unusual. And yes—many of you noticed.
Here’s the truth: over the past few months, I stepped away for parental leave, welcomed my first child, and waded through the early days of motherhood—the joy, the exhaustion, and a few unexpected hurdles. Looking back, we should have clued you in sooner. But what matters now is that we’re back, ITG is here to stay, and we’re ready to let you in on what’s been happening.
A Complication No One Warned Me About
Earlier this year, I gave birth to my daughter. The delivery itself was straightforward, but a few days later, during a routine check, everything turned upside down. My blood pressure had spiked dangerously high. Before I could even process what was happening, I was back in the hospital, hooked up to IVs and monitors while my newborn was at home.
My doctor laid it out plainly: “If you walk out of here, you risk having a stroke.”
The diagnosis? Postpartum preeclampsia. It’s a rare, confusing, and frightening condition that can damage organs and, without urgent care, become fatal. For days I lay in a hospital bed while nurses repeated the same gentle directive: relax. So I did what I could. I pumped milk. I watched mindless TV. I scrolled endlessly. I tried to coax joy out of beauty routines but often felt…flat.
That craving—for something small and beautiful to make me feel like myself again—stuck with me.
Motherhood, Healing, and Beauty
Eventually, I went home. But maternity leave became a balancing act: raising a newborn while adjusting to a body still recovering from trauma. Rest wasn’t just encouraged—it was prescribed.
In those quiet moments, I turned back to beauty. Not in the high-glam, full-routine kind of way, but in fragments: a scroll through Beauty Internet, a swipe of something that made me look less tired, a tiny spark of delight where I could find it.
And even when I wasn’t working, I couldn’t help but notice how the landscape of beauty had shifted. We no longer just read about products—we watch, swipe, and stream them. We’re savvier now. We know more about ingredients, application, and even the politics behind the brands. Beauty is less about following rules and more about shaping them for ourselves.
Reimagining ITG
Returning to ITG after that time away, it was clear: if this platform is going to thrive, it has to evolve, too. The past decade of beauty has transformed not just the products we use, but the way we experience them. We’re opinionated, we’re visually driven, and we crave authenticity more than ever.
So here’s what’s next: ITG is stretching beyond its traditional format. In the coming weeks, you’ll see us across more platforms, with new series, fresh voices, and a wider lens on beauty as a whole. We’re doubling down on storytelling, creating spaces that reflect the vibrancy and diversity of how beauty is lived today.
Think of this moment as a renovation—messy in the middle, but building toward something better.
The Road Ahead
To those who stuck around during the quiet, thank you. To those who wondered where we’d gone—well, now you know. ITG has always been about honesty and connection, and this next chapter will carry that spirit forward with new energy.
We’re dusting things off, refreshing the walls, and rethinking the blueprint. A new ITG is on the way, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
